We live in a world where it is seen as odd if you are out by yourself. This isn't right! Why should we have to be surrounded by people at every moment of the day? Why can't we have a nice day on our own? Sometimes it is nice to do things by yourself. It gives you time to think and to clear your head. It is somewhat rewarding doing certain things by yourself, i personally enjoy it!
Pluck up the courage and take a day for yourself!
1. Go out shopping. Buy yourself some new clothes, the ones that you've been eyeing up for weeks. Treat yourself! Take a wander through a book shop and pick up a few new books. There is no one there to rush you, take your time.
2. Take a walk through your favourite park/place. There is something very peaceful about walking alone. You can really take in whats going on around you and just enjoy the moment. Whether you enjoy a stroll through a peaceful park or if its a buzzy little town. Go for it, you walk with pride.
3. Visit a new place. This doesn't necessarily have to be a different country, it might just be that little seaside town that you've always wanted to visit. We all have places that we'd love to see tucked away in our mind, so dig one out and take a little trip. If you are confident enough, you push that boat out and you go abroad! Do it for you!
4. Have a pamper day. Book a spa treatment. Go to the hairdressers. Get your nails done. Tame those brows. These are all easily done alone and you just have to sit back and relax. You'll feel brand new by the end of the day.
5. Have a movie day. It's personal preference how you go about this day. It can be at home with Netflix, at the Cinema or it can making a nice Amazon DVD order and prepping for their arrival. (Amazon is the best for cheap DVD's by the way!) Binge watch your favourite movies or TV shows. Who cares if you are in your jammies all day? not me. Get the popcorn and some goodies and get comfy. I feel like we all need a movie day everyone once in a while just to fizzle out and ignore life for a day.
6. Volunteer. Sign up to do some volunteering. This can be at the library, animal shelter, charity shop. It can be so rewarding to help out other people. I've signed up to walk dogs for the RSPCA, which i am so excited for.
7. Go to the theatre. This isn't as lame as it sounds. I do it all the time. Its actually quite satisfying. It is definitely a way of showing that you are dedicated to seeing what you love rather than what people think of you.
8. Treat yourself to a nice meal. Whether that is going to your favourite restaurant or going out to pick up a takeaway. Who says yummy food has to be consumed in company? Put your phone away and relax. This moment is for you, just enjoy it.
9. Start that new hobby you've been thinking about. I think everyone has that hobby that they always wish they took part in. Look online and see if there is anywhere near you and sign the hell up. Just do it. You'll most likely meet new people and you'll be able to learn that new skill that you've always dreamed of. Show off your new skills to everyone!
10. Take a nice long hot bath. Pick up some of your favourite bath bombs or products from the shop and get home to fill that tub up. Make a little towel pillow so you can rest your head and just sink into the bubbles of happiness. Don't forget to take a nice cold drink into the bathroom with you because it does get hella toasty in there!
It's a great feeling knowing that you can accomplish things on your own. It took me a while to realise this myself. I used to wait around for others and to always get someone to come with me to things, but it eventually clicked that everyone was just holding me back and life is too short to be waiting around. You become so much more independent once you've grasped the idea of doing things alone. This doesn't mean you have to be alone all the time, its more of a comfort blanket for the times when you do find yourself alone. It's not the end of the world. Pick yourself up and carry on. I've had such a fun time recently, most things being on my own. I've visited 6 cities in the past few months!
