The Girl On The Train - Paula Hawkins
This has been one of those books that has been literally everywhere lately. It all depends on what kind of books you are into reading as to whether you'd be intrigued enough to want to read it for yourself. I mean for me, even looking at the title and the cover, it was a winner for me. It instantly took my fancy. I love thriller and crime books, i get really into them and finish them in a few days. I have literally just finished this book, The Girl On The Train in 2 days. I brought it with me on holiday and had finished by my second day here, oops! It was such an addictive read, i absolutely loved it!
The plot of the book its pretty much self explanatory from the title, it is quite literally all about the girl on the train, Rachel. It is set out a bit like a diary and everything is done from dates, which can be a little hard to follow at times, you have to keep checking back to make sure you are following correctly and that all these memories/sightings fit the puzzle. Throughout the book you get to find out about Rachel and her life - (past and present) and what she encounters on her daily train journeys to and from London. There is also the small matter of finding out what she can actually remember after a drunken night...have the stories that her ex told her been a lie? Is she the one to blame?
This story totally was not what i had expected, but i was more than happy with the ending, totally took me by surprise. I was intrigued by the "You don't know her but she knows you" on the front cover and it quite literally was the case, but maybe not in the way you would think. Rachel makes up her own little fantasy world whilst on her train journeys, only to soon become part of it it herself. It's a small world, i'll say that!
If you are into thriller/crime/mystery books like me then i can not recommend this book enough! I would love to know your thoughts on the book if you have read it!
